Outer Beach at Smith Point County Park, NY

This beach is probably the best off-road beach spot on East Long Island, a beautiful beach about 8km where you can drive / park and enjoy the sun and surf.

Why is Smith Point Outer Beach closed? 

This year, the beach was closed and closed longer than usual due to the nesting of a federal-protected plover nesting near the entrance to the beach. According to the announcement, the beach limit is 400 cars.

What time does Smith Point Outer Beach open? 

Starting June 3, Smith Point Outer Beach will be open from 8am to 8pm for a day trip from Cut 1A East to the Snowfence Barricada near Cut 2. Weekdays and weekends from 7am to 8pm.

Need a Smith Point Beach Pass? 

 To use these sites, you need an RV vehicle permit in Suffolk County Park. Suffolk County Park Outer Beach 4x4 permits can be purchased year-round in West Sayville, Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Cedar Point, Indian Island, Sears Bellows, Smith Point, West Hills, and online.
